Archaeology

Michelle received her BA and MA in Anthropology from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  Her Master's research focused on social memory, space and place in the landscape as gleaned from Prehispanic footpaths, cemeteries and villages in the Arenal region of Northwestern Costa Rica. Her current archaeological research is taking place in the Lower Rio Verde Valley region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Her theoretical interests include post-structural and feminist theories, political authority, difference, identity, performance, landscape, space and place, and the origins of monumentality during Formative period Mesoamerica.  Her adviser is Wendy Ashmore.
