Laurie's primary research focuses on the earliest hominid migration out of Africa, and the impact of migration and environment on hominid morphology. Laurie received her B.A. in anthropology from Southern Methodist University, and worked as an academic and CRM archaeologist in the United States and Central America prior to returning to graduate school.
