Ever since Koffi was a boy, he has been fascinated by the concepts of disease, health, and healing. In addition to this personal interest, he was raised in an environment that relies on ethnomedicine for its healthcare needs. He has become so drawn to this medical system that he ended up by becoming initiated as a shaman to take care of his community's health care issues. Koffi is specializing in Critical Medical Anthropology with his research interest focusing on: The Response of Indigenous Medicine to the HIV/AIDS Crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa. The countries of his case study will be Benin (former Dahomey) and Ghana in West Africa.
